World News and Views :: Projects DuPont Selects South Carolina for Kevlar Expansion12:18 PM MST | December 18, 2007 | CW Editorial Staff DuPont has selected Cooper River, SC for its previously announced $500-million project to boost capacity by more than 25% for Kevlar para-aramid fiber. The investment will include the construction of a new Kevlar facility. Construction will begin in January 2008, with startup scheduled for 2010, DuPont says. DuPont says it is investing an additional $50 million to increase capacity of Kevlar polymer, the material that is spun into the fiber, at its Richmond, VA facility, for start-up by year-end.
