Dow Selects Freeport, TX Site for New Ethylene Plant

Dow Chemical says it will build a previously announced ethylene plant at its Freeport, TX complex to take advantage of low-cost feedstocks available from increasing U.S. supplies of shale gas. The unit is scheduled for start-up in 2017. “For the first time in over a decade, U.S. natural gas prices are affordable and relatively stable, attracting new industry investments and growth and putting us on the threshold of an American manufacturing resurgence,” says Andrew Liveris, chairman and CEO.
