World News and Views :: Projects Dow Forms India Chloromethanes JV8:35 AM MDT | April 29, 2008 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Dow Chemical has confirmed plans to form a 50-50 joint venture with Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd. (GACL; Vadodara, India) to produce chloromethanes at Dahej, India (CW, July 18, 2007, p. 12). The plant, due for start up in 2011, will have capacity of 200,000 m.t./year and supply mainly Southeast Asia. Total investment is estimated at Rs6 billion ($150 million).
