World News and Views :: Projects Ciner goes ahead with soda ash plant in Turkey, signs engineering and offtake contracts7:33 AM MST | January 14, 2013 | Natasha Alperowicz The Ciner Group (Istanbul) is going ahead with previously announced plans to build a world-scale natural soda ash plant in Turkey. The company said on Friday that it has signed a $1.35-billion contract with China Tianchen Engineering Corp. (TCC) to build the plant, which will be the world’s largest such facility. Ciner will build the plant at Kazan, near Ankara, and is a former Rio Tinto site. Ciner acquired the trona mineral rights at Kazan from Rio Tinto.
