China's first PDH plant starts production

Tianjin Bohua Petrochemical (Tianjin, China) has started production its previously announced propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit at Tianjin, China. The 600,000-m.t./year is the first PDH unit in China and uses Clariant's (Muttenz, Switzerland) Catofin process and catalyst, licensed through CB&I (The Hague). The Bohua unit exceeded nameplate capacity in the first month of operation, Clariant says. High demand for polypropylene and other propylene derivatives has boosted PDH interest in China. Several new Catofin production units will begin production in China...
