Cabot signs activated carbon contract with Midwestern utility

Cabot today announced that it has signed a contract to provide its Darco Hg-brand family of activated carbon products to a power generator in the US. The company says this is the first contract awarded in the market for compliance with the federal Mercury and Air Toxics Standard (MATS) as the industry prepares for this regulation to take effect in April 2015. The contract is valued at $8 million, and will allow the generator to meet federal regulations for mercury emissions, Cabot says.
