CNPC to join petrochemical project in Uzbekistan

China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) is expected to join a $2.5-billion petrochemical project planned in Uzbekistan, according to Uzbekistani government sources. CNPC has signed a memorandum of participation with state-owned Uzbekneftegaz (Tashkent) and the Singapore arm of Indorama Group, the original investors in UzIndoramaGazChemical.   The project will be based at the Mubarek gas processing plant in Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region and is expected to produce 500,000 m.t./year of polyethylene (PE).
