CNPC signs framework agreement to take stake in Ecuador refinery

China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC; Beijing) signed a framework agreement to take a stake in a planned refinery in Ecuador, CNPC announced on Sunday. The agreement was signed on 6 June by CNPC’s chairman Zhou Jiping and a number of Ecuadorian government and state oil company officials. “Under the agreement, CNPC will take a share in the construction of the Pacific Refinery project and participate in the exploration and development of Ecuador’s upstream resources,” CNPC says.
