World News and Views :: Projects Braskem Invests $633 Million to Build PVC Plant in Brazil1:37 AM MDT | April 8, 2011 | Deepti Ramesh Braskem says it has begun construction of a new polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plant at Marechal Deodoro in the state of Alagoas, Brazil. The plant will involve an investment of R$1 billion ($633 million), which is the largest investment made by Braskem in a single project. The new PVC plant will have production capacity of 200,000 m.t./year, and it is expected to begin production in the first half of 2012. Braskem already has a PVC plant in Alagoas, and with the new plant, the company’s total PVC production capacity in the state will increase to 460,000...
