BASF to Build Butadiene Plant at Antwerp, to Help Ease Global Shortage

BASF announced today that it plans to build a butadiene extraction plant at its Antwerp site. The plant will have a production capacity of 155,000 m.t./year and is scheduled to start up during 2014. The investment will be in the high double-digit million euro range, BASF says. It will use BASF's own technology. The project will improve the company’s integration at Antwerp and ease butadiene supplies on the global markets, the company says.
