World News and Views :: Projects Asahi Kasei Expands S-SBR Capacity10:34 AM MST | March 3, 2008 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Asahi Kasei Chemicals, an Asahi Kasei subsidiary, says it will add 10,000 m.t./year of solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (S-SBR) capacity at Kawasaki, Japan by April, 2009. The company announced earlier that it would add 10,000 m.t./year of S-SBR capacity at Oita, Japan that is due onstream in April, 2008. Asahi says that increasingly stringent regulation of environmental emissions, as well as high fuel costs, are driving demand for tires that provide improved fuel efficiency.
