World News and Views :: Projects Asahi Boosts S-SBR in Japan6:47 AM MDT | August 7, 2007 | DR Asahi Kasei Chemicals (AKC), an Asahi Kasei subsidiary, plans to increase production capacity for solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (S-SBR) at Oita, Japan by 10,000 m.t./year. Japan Elastomer Co. (Tokyo), an AKC affiliate, operates the Oita plant. The plant’s capacity will rise to 62,000 m.t./year on completion of the project in April 2008. AKC has a 75% stake in Japan Elastomer, and the rest is held by Showa Denko. The Japan Elastomer plant is located at Showa Denko’s Oita petrochemical complex.
