World News and Views :: Projects Arkema to Invest in low-GWP Gas9:46 AM MDT | July 22, 2008 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Arkema says it will invest in European production of a low-global warming potential (low-GWP) fluorinated gas for automotive air conditioning. Arkema did not specify how much it will invest in the project. Production will be at Pierre-Bénite, France or Zaramillo, Spain where the company currently produces fluorinated gases, Arkema says. The gas, dubbed R1234yf, will gradually replace hydrofluorocarbon 134a beginning in 2011, Arkema says.
