World News and Views :: Projects Arkema Announces Major Acrylics Investment in the U.S.7:35 AM MST | November 17, 2010 | Ian Young Arkema has announced investments totaling $110 million at the company's acrylics sites at Clear Lake and Bayport, TX over the next three years. The plan will target acrylic acid and esters, and it focuses on fast-growing applications in the water treatment, superabsorbent polymers, and enhanced oil and gas recovery markets. Arkema says it is the third-biggest supplier of acrylics worldwide behind BASF and Dow Chemical. Arkema is the second-biggest player in the U.S. after Dow.
