World News and Views :: Projects Aker Kvaerner Confirms PTA Plant Contract in Portugal11:20 AM MDT | September 21, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Aker Kvaerner has confirmed that it has been awarded a contract by Artenius, a subsidiary of La Seda de Barcelona to build a purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Sines, Portugal (CW, Aug. 29, p. 17). The £20 million ($40.3 million) contract covers engineering and procurement services as well as construction management for the 700,000 m.t./year plant. Work on the project has already begun with completion due in the first quarter of 2010.
