Agrium Goes Ahead with Egypt Fertilizer Complex

Agrium says it is going ahead with construction of a previously announced, export-oriented fertilizer complex at Damietta, Egypt (CW, June 21, 2006, p. 18). The complex, including process plants as well as related infrastructure, will cost $1.2 billion, the company says. It will be owned by EAgrium (Cairo), a joint venture in which Agrium will have 60%; Egyptian government-owned Echem (Cairo) and EGas (Cairo) will have a combined 24%; Gasco (Cairo), responsible for gas transmission in Egypt, will hold 9%; and Arab Petroleum Investment Corp. will have the rest...
