Westlake commences ethylene expansion at Lake Charles

Westlake Chemical has begun the previously announced expansion of the Petro 2 ethylene unit at its complex at Lake Charles, LA, the company said today. The expansion work, taking place during a scheduled maintenance turnaround, is expected to last 60 days and to add 230–240 million lbs/year of ethylene capacity at the Lake Charles site, supporting Westlake’s ethylene integration strategy, the company says.   The project is the first stage of a 2-phase expansion that will lift overall ethylene capacity at the Lake Charles site by 500 million...
