Walmart this week announced plans to establish a single source of data for evaluating the sustainability of its products, an effort that by extension could capture or impact nearly everything that the industry produces. The first phase is a survey to evaluate supplier sustainability efforts in four areas: energy and climate; material efficiency; natural resources; and people and community.
