CW Insider: Air Products Turns Up the Heat on Airgas

Air Products must see big things in small packages again. The company unveiled an unsolicited offer to acquire U.S. packaged gas leader Airgas last Friday for about $7 billion including debt. The proposed deal--a bid to re-enter the U.S. packaged gas market after selling its U.S. packaged gas operation to Airgas in 2002)--would create the biggest industrial gases company in North America, with annual sales of about $12.5 billion. Airgas says it is reviewing Air Products' latest proposal. Airgas notesthat it in December 2009 it received a cash and stock proposal...
