EnviroTech :: Sustainability Trash-to-Fuel Firm Raises $60 Million2:04 PM MDT | June 1, 2011 | Rebecca Coons Enerkem (Pontotoc, MS), a waste-to-biomaterials firm, says it has completed a $60 million funding round. Valero Energy (San Antonio, TX) joined existing investors Waste Management (Houston), Rho Ventures (New York, NY), Braemar Energy Ventures (New York, NY), and Cycle Capital (Menlo Park, CA). Enerkem’s technology uses gasification and catalytic synthesis to produce ethanol from municipal solid waste. The financing will be used to support production projects, Enerkem says.
