Toray produces biobased PBT, plans commercial-scale production unit

Toray says it has successfully made molded components from the partially biobased PBT. Toray Industries announced today that it has successfully produced partially biobased polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) using 1,4-butanediol (BDO) produced by renewable chemicals firm Genomatica (San Diego). Toray says it plans to build a commercial-scale production unit once biobased BDO availability allows.
