Synthetic biology start-up demonstrates glycinate production

Synthetic biology start-up Modular Genetics (Woburn, MA) says it has demonstrated the production and downstream purification of the surfactant acyl glutamate via fermentation. Modular has produced and purified the glycinate, and researchers at Unilever have confirmed the produced material was glycinate purified to a “high level” of purity.
