Report: China's Dominance in Rare Earths Set to Diminish

China, which currently accounts for about 96% of global supply of rare earth oxides (REOs), is projected to lose market share as other producers come online, according to a report by Technology Metals Research (TMR; Carptenersville, IL), a consulting firm. The report forecasts China's share of global to supply to decline to 41% by 2017, down from 96% this year. It is expected to fall below 50% in 2016.
