Enerkem begins commissioning trash-to-methanol unit

Enerkem (Montreal) announced today that it has begun commissioning front-end systems at its Alberta municipal solid waste (MSW)-to-methanol facility at Edmonton, Canada. When fully operational, the plant will have a production capacity of up to 38 million litres per year and help the City of Edmonton divert 90% of the residential waste stream from landfill.
