EU Opens Repository for Nanomaterials

The European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC; Brussels) yesterday officially opened the first repository of reference nanomaterials. The center is designed to facilitate the safety assessment of nanomaterials and so ensure consumer protection and confidence in nanomaterial application and products.   The center, from its start-up, has a collection of 25 nanomaterials including; carbon nanotubes; silver nanoparticles; titanium dioxide; cerium oxide; zinc oxide; bentonite; gold; and silicon dioxide.
