DSM validates Genomatica's biobased BDO for thermoplastic copolyester production

DSM announced today that it has tested and approved the use of Genomatica’s (San Diego) biobased 1,4-butanediol (BDO) for use in DSM’s Arnitel thermoplastic copolyester, allowing DSM to increase biobased content in the high-performance engineering plastic to as much as 73%. DSM plans to start transitioning its Arnitel portfolio to biobased BDO as soon as supplies are readily available.
