Chevron Taps LS9 For Biobased Hydrocarbons

Synthetic biology start-up LS9 (San Francisco, CA) says it has extended ongoing research efforts with Chevron for producing renewable, synthetic hydrocarbons using LS9’s technology. The second phase of the collaboration will look to optimize the technology, following successful evaluation by Chevron and includes undisclosed funding, LS9 says.   LS9 has developed microbes that convert fatty acid intermediates into petroleum replacement products via fermentation of renewable sugars.
