Amyris sales slide 73% on shelving of biofuels

Biobased farnesene producer Amyris (Emeryville, CA) reported a net loss of $32.3 million for its fiscal first-quarter ended 31 March compared with a net loss of $94.9 million in the year-ago quarter. Net loss attributable to Amyris stockholders of 44 cts/share fell short of a net loss of 38 cts/share consensus of analyst estimates compiled by Thomson Reuters (New York). Revenue decreased 73.2%, to $7.9 million, reflecting the company’s exit from ethanol and ethanol-blended gasoline trading in 2012. Renewable product sales increased 25.0%, to $3.0 million...
