U.S. House Introduces Cosmetics Labeling Law

Representatives Tammy Baldwin (D., WI), Edward Markey (D., MA), and Jan Schakowsky (D., IL) introduced a bill last week that would require stricter labeling requirements for cosmetics and allow the FDA to recall products it deems dangerous to human health. The legislation, the Safe Cosmetics Act of 2011, is an updated version of a bill introduced last year with changes made to ease any potential burdens on small cosmetics manufacturers, the lawmakers say.
