FDA Declines NRDC Petition for Stricter BPA Rules1:06 PM MDT | April 7, 2012 | Kara Sissell The U.S. FDA has rejected a petition filed by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC; Washington) requesting restrictions on the use of bisphenol A (BPA) in food packaging. NRDC petitioned FDA in 2008, asking it to ban BPA in food packaging, food containers, and any material likely to come into contact with food. FDA had 180 days to respond but it failed to do so and NRDC filed suit in 2010 to compel an answer.
