EPA Misses Dioxin Assessment Deadline

EPA missed a self-imposed January 31 deadline for issuing its assessment of dioxin’s potential noncancer health effects. Industry groups have argued that the proposed reference dose, or recommended limit, for dioxin would make much of the nation’s food supply perceived to be unsafe for human consumption.
