EPA Finalizes Air Toxics Standard for PVC Production

EPA has released its final air toxics emission limits for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) production units, replacing a 2002 standard that a federal court ordered EPA to replace. The technology-based standard applies to air toxic emissions from manufacture of polyvinyl chloride and copolymers production, but not from process units that produce vinyl chloride as the monomer, EPA says.  The Clean Air Act requires EPA to issue Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) standards for industrial sectors that emit air toxics.
