Court Denies EPA Petition for Extended Boiler MACT Deadline

A federal court has rejected EPA’s request for an 18-month extension for mandating additional reductions in air toxics from industrial boilers. The January 20 decision gives EPA 30 days to finalize the rule. Industry groups and some lawmakers have criticized the court’s decision, saying the rule as currently written will jeopardize thousands of jobs.
