California Sets Nation's First PHG for Hexavalent Chromium11:02 AM MDT | August 1, 2011 | Kara Sissell California has set a “public health goal” (PHG) of 0.02 parts per billion (ppb) for hexavalent chromium, also known as chromium 6, in drinking water. California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), did not change the level from it initial proposal in late 2010. The PHG is the nation's first such target for chromium 6.
