ACC: Formaldehyde emissions rules discount scientific evidence

EPA’s proposed rules for formaldehyde emissions for composite wood products—first announced 29 May 2013—are arbitrary and contrary to the intent of the law, according to public comments filed with the EPA this week by ACC’s Formaldehyde Panel.  The first rule limits how much formaldehyde can be emitted from hardwood plywood, medium-density fiberboard, particleboard, and finished goods that are sold, supplied, offered for sale, manufactured, or imported in the United States, EPA says.
