Scientists: Novel Carbon Neutral Way to Develop Hydrogen Gas from Waste Oil

Researchers at Leeds University (Leeds: U.K.) have discovered a carbon neutral method to generate hydrogen gas from waste vegetable oil created by restaurants and pubs. Hydrogen gas is usually generated by burning fossil fuels which creates carbon emissions and other waste products. “Hydrogen does not occur naturally, it has to be made. With this process, we can do that in a sustainable way by recycling waste materials, such as used cooking oil,” says Valerie Dupont, leader of the project.
