Report Tallies Light Vehicles' Growing Importance in North American Industry1:49 PM MST | January 2, 2012 | Sortirios Frantzanas The light vehicle industry is a customer of growing importance for the chemical industry in North America, according to ACC's recent Chemistry and Light Vehicles report. A total of 9.66 million light vehicles were assembled in the U.S. and Canada during 2010, the report says. This represents the equivalent of $37.8 billion worth of chemicals. The value of chemicals in light vehicles increased by 51.4% from $21.0 billion in 2009 as the number of light vehicle units assembled grew 37.6% from 7.02 million.
