Operators Shutter Sole U.S. Chlorine-Free Paper Mill

Operators of the U.S.’s only chlorine-free paper mill say it will permanently shut down after being denied federal stimulus money that would have enabled it to remain in operation. Freshwater Tissue (Samoa, CA) had planned to convert the mill into an integrated tissue plant that would have used “valueless, disease stricken” wood as raw material to produce chlorine free toilet tissue.
