McDonald's Tests Phaseout of Polystyrene in Beverage Containers

McDonald's Corp. has agreed to test market a switch from polystyrene to paper cups in 200 locations, primarily on the U.S. West Coast, after a group of shareholders urged the fast food giant to consider stronger environmental policies for its beverage containers. The resolution was approved last year by 29% of McDonalds shareholders, an unusually strong showing considering that similar resolutions rarely obtain even half as many votes, sources say.
