DOE Panel Advises Increased Tracking, Disclosure for U.S. Shale Gas

A panel convened by the U.S. Department of Energy has released consensus-based recommendations for disclosure and management of shale gas resources that emphasize enhanced data collection and public disclosure. The panel says the risk to public health from fluid leakage into drinking water wells is remote, but that there is no reason to block public disclosure of the chemicals used in fracturing fluids....
