Coca-Cola Chooses Partners for Renewable Para-xylene1:52 PM MST | December 19, 2011 | Rebecca Coons Coca-Cola says it has partnered with renewable chemicals firms Avantium (Amsterdam), Gevo (Englewood, CO), and Virent (Madison, WI) to reach its target of using 100% renewable polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in its bottles. Gevo and Virent are developing separate biobased routes to para -xylene, which is used to manufacture the purified terephthalic acid that makes up 70% of PET.
