BASF, Codexis, Dow and Merck Win U.S. Green Chemistry Awards9:05 AM MDT | June 22, 2010 | Alex Scott and Vincent Valk Pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co., and Codexis (Redwood City, CA), an enzymes firm, have been honored with the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award from the U.S. EPA for developing a biocatalytic process for the synthesis of the type two diabetes drug Sitagliptin. Dow Chemical and BASF also won awards for their jointly developed hydrogen peroxide to propylene oxide (HPPO) technology.
