Analysis Tallies GHG Savings from ‘Green’ PE

Brazilian petrochemicals firm Braskem (São Paulo) and trading company Toyota Tsusho (Nagoya, Japan) say a life-cycle assessment of Braskem’s polyethylene (PE) made from sugarcane-derived ethanol shows production of the “green” PE contribute fewer greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions than PE derived from petroleum, even when global transportation of the product is factored into the equation.
