U.S. Senator Introduces Plant Security Legislation

Senator Frank Lautenberg (D., NJ) has introduced legislation that would extend and amplify the U.S. chemical plant security laws. Lautenberg timed today’s introduction of the bill to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Bhopal, India methyl isocyanate leak that killed an estimated 4,000. “The Bhopal tragedy serves as a warning that a chemical disaster or attack could kill thousands of Americans.
