U.S. Lawmakers Order Federal Analysis of Methyl Isocyanate Alternatives12:02 PM MST | November 9, 2009 | Kara Sissell Congress has passed a Department of the Interior funding measure that allocates $600,000 for the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (NAS) to study alternatives to processes using methyl isocyanate at Bayer CropScience’s Institute WV site. The law provides that the NAS will “examine the use and storage of methyl isocyanate (MIC) including the feasibility of implementing alternative chemicals or processes and an examination of the cost of alternatives."...
