Senate Confirms GWU’s Michaels to Head OSHA

The Senate has confirmed George Washington University (GWU) epidemiologist David Michaels as Department of Labor Assistant Secretary for OSHA. Michaels, who heads to OSHA from GWU’s School of Public Health, has periodically criticized industry and government for their roles in certain worker protection standards. OSHA decisions affecting the chemical industry could include workplace standards on the food flavoring ingredient diacetyl.
