SAE International takes another look at refrigerant R-1234yf

SAE International (Warrendale, PA) says it is conducting an updated engineering review of the refrigerant R-1234yf for use in automobile air-conditioning systems. SAE’s initial review was completed in 2009 and found R-1234yf is a safe and acceptable refrigerant. The reassessment, due for completion in February, will ensure that newly identified information from each of the original equipment manufacturers is incorporated, SAE says.
