Leaders of some key major fine chemical manufacturers in Europe, along with industry body the European Fine Chemicals Group (EFCG; Brussels), say they are concerned that the European Chemicals Agency Union (ECHA; Helsinki) is changing the rules regarding the management under Reach of intermediate chemicals and that this could cost the sector millions of dollars.   Based on the strict interpretation of guidance published by ECHA at the end of 2010, manufacturers of intermediate chemicals will be required to replace their current practice of risk assessing...
