EU Proposes Plant Safety Requirements

The European Commission has issued draft legislation to strengthen the rules on the control of major accidents involving hazardous chemicals. Proposed changes to the so-called Seveso II Directive include clarifications to the law and updates for a series of provisions including the introduction of stricter inspection standards and improvements to the quality of information available to the public in the event of an accident.
