Bridge collapse causes train carrying vinyl chloride to derail

A train derailment in Paulsboro, NJ has caused potentially hazardous vinyl chloride to spill into local air and water, reports say. The derailment, caused by the collapse of a rail bridge in the southern New Jersey town, sent 22 people to an area hospital. Residents in the surrounding neighborhood were also evacuated.   New Jersey state officials say the spill, which occurred around 7am November 30, has been contained and does not appear to have contaminated air in the area.
